 President’s Message

The beginning of a New Year and new decade.  It is a pleasure and honor to be serving you as leader of the Greenville chapter MOAA.   The top priority of the chapter is to restore and develop membership.  Our chapter is at a crucial time that membership needs to be restored.  I ask have you paid your membership for 2010.  It is due the cost is $20.00.  Without your dues; it is very difficult for the chapter to exist.  We are sending letters, emails, newsletter and making phone calls encouraging you to pay your membership.  We need you!

Our chapter needs officer to serve; we have need of secretary as well as board members for legislative affairs, membership and other needed positions.

MOAA is your direct link to congress to help the retired, active duty, guard/reserve.  They are many issues facing the military family: 1. Physician fee cut 21.6% this is already affecting retired, Tricare and Medicare at the mayo clinic in phoenix.

2.   Therapy cap:   provision for physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech pathology have a cap for the year starting 1 January 2010.   This affects you in any outpatient program.

3.  Military survivors benefit.  These affect widows who remarry before age 57 where they may lose all military benefits.

We are starting the year off with the gold bar program with 11 graduates from the Furman ROTC program getting their commission in May 2010.  They will be new members for the Greenville chapter.   Hope to see you at the February dinner meeting at the Hilton.  Again, it is a pleasure/honor to serve you.
